‘Lighting the Spark’ is a collaboration between Kimberley Jiyigas (Birds) and Young Change Agents.
This exciting intergeneration initiative is seeking to introduce the concept of business to up to 100 Aboriginal women of the Kimberley, between the ages of 14 to 24 years old, and help them identify business opportunities in their communities as well as mapping out an ecosystem of local supports to help them consider future business operations, as a real possibility.
A number of mature age Kimberley women across the East and West Kimberley have been engaged to support these 100 young women participate in workshops that will be delivered at various times in May and June 2022, using learning material developed by Young Change Agents. These workshops will be delivered face to face in May and June of 2022.

The Lighting the Spark initiative culminates in an online event via zoom on Wednesday 29th June 2022 where participants of this project will have an opportunity to pitch their business idea and secure $1000 to help them on their business journey. We have a total of $2000 to give away, so we will aim to support one young woman from the East Kimberley and one from the West Kimberley.
